"I am an invisible man. No, I am not a spook like those who haunted Edgar Allan Poe; nor am I one of your Hollywood-movie ectoplasms. I am a man of substance, of flesh and bone, fiber and liquids--and I might even be said to possess a mind. I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me."

 - Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man"

His mathematical genius gained the attention of the U.S. government during the Korean War. He only served for three months before he was taken from the ranks to work with the Lockheed Air Defense Industry. He later worked on technical aspects of computer applications for Army communications and Defense and Nary Fire Control Systems as they related to antisubmarine warfare. Harrison married Joyce Post, a concert pianist. The couple had six children, Terry, Wayne, Alison, Cheryl, Karen, and Craig. His life is detailed in numerous chapters in I Cannot Tell a Lie beginning in Chapter 33.
